Saturday Photo Hunt -The Theme is "Metal"

This week's theme is metal. Here is a photo of my hubby's
Fender jazz bass guitar with metal strings! I love the look of metal
on wood and the instrument has the most wonderful sound.
(Hubby is also a super bass player too - which helps!) LOL

Blog Friends Forever!

I'm not the most active blogger on the net. I never even had a diary when I was a teenager - but luckily for me, I met some wonderful people on the internet, way back when and we've stuck together for many years now, through thick and thin!
My dear friend, Hootin' Anni named me as one of her dearest online friends and I am so touched by this because the internet is a really big place, filled with many, many people. So thank you so much for this gift. And by the way, Hootin' Anni is a very active blogger - so drop by her place for some good reading!

Happy Spring everyone!

Saturday Photo Hunt - The Theme is "I Spy"

I often go for walks and take pictures of the textures in nature.
I didn't notice for a long time, that there were 2 men in this picture.
They were pretty well camouflaged - can you see them?

Happy Weekend.

Freedom of Speech

Many countries around the world are facing a dilemma at the moment.
It is the issue of political satire vs. freedom of speech.
As some of you know, Denmark has been in the spotlight with the mohammad cartoon controversy. It's a very difficult situation because it has divided people between the constitutional right of freedom of speech and political satire which offends the fundamentalists of the Islamic/Muslim faith. An art gallery in Germany had to close its exhibition because of threats from fundamentalists because there was one picture they found offensive. But the whole exhibition was about many religions and "isms" and no one else reacted as they did. I don't believe in poking fun at others - but there is a huge difference between being able to laugh at yourself and issuing death threats if someone has a different opinion.
Little Denmark is an old country with many old traditions. When people didn't agree on things, they talked them out - and even agreed to disagree! But now there are bombings and death threats that were virtually unknown to this country.
I believe that if you move to a new country that gives you opportunities you never had before - it's important to become apart of that society and give back what was given - not try and make it a copy of the place you came from.
I found the following on the internet written by the former prime minister of Australia, John Howard. I think it sums up the issue.
Thanks for reading. - this is must my opinion blowing in the wind.
*******

The 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'
'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'
'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'
'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'
'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'
'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,
'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'
'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'
Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American & us citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.

Saturday Photo Hunt - The Theme is "Party"

Sometimes the most beautiful thing about a party is all the work that's gone into decorating the tables. I love when people make their own decorations. The party tables were decorated with soft roses on each and every table; the glasses where shiny, the plates white, and the tablecloth spotless!! It makes for a warm and wonderful get together, I think.

Saturday Photo Hunt - The Theme is "Wooden"

Thank goodness for progress!
I saw this old wooden wheel chair at a "workhouse" museum.
Can you imagine having a bad back and sitting in this chair all day?
There's no rubber on the wheels either! Must have been a hard and bumpy ride.
Happy Weekend

Saturday Photo Hunt - The Theme is "Narrow"

This is one of many narrow pathways at Egeskov Castle, in Denmark. Besides being a castle built on water, it has a playground, lakes, art, statues, museums and lots of beautiful gardens. Between the gardens you walk down one of these many narrow pathways and go through an opening to visit all the different flower gardens.
And most amazing of all is the maze which is built in bamboo. You can wander around forever trying to find your way out!
If you ever come to Denmark, it is truly worth a visit to see Egeskov. If you want to read more - here is a link to Egeskov Castle's homepage.
Happy weekend

Saturday Photo Hunt - The Theme is "Old-Fashioned"

Sorry I'm late this week. Yesterday my choir had 2 Gospel concerts in one day in two different churches! But better late than never.
We have a wood-burning stove in our kitchen. It's old and ugly but it can really warm the house up in no time. This also saves on heating bills, but it's also very cozy.
And hey - it is old fashioned -people have had wood burning stoves for ever!
Happy Weekend!

What kind of Soul Are You?

You Are a Bright Star Soul

Like a shining star, you have no trouble being the center of attention
In fact, you often feel a bit hurt when all eyes aren't on you
You need to be number one in everything, no matter how trivial
And it's this ego that both hurts your confidence and helps you achieve

You're dramatic and a powerhouse of pure energy
You possess a divine quality or uniqueness that's hard to define
A natural performer, it's likely you'll become famous in some circles.
Just learn not to take everyone's reaction to you so personally!

Souls you are most compatible with: Newborn Soul and Prophet Soul

Saturday Photo Hunt - The Theme is "Skinny"

This was a difficult theme because I always think of skinny
as an adjective for a person and not a thing. I would use
narrow or thin to describe a thing. So I hope I'm not on "thin"
ice with this one!
Happy hunting
L
PS -just for clarification - this windmill is actually called a wind turbine which is used to create energy for heating and electricity. The beautiful old-fashioned windmills were more often used for grinding grain into flour and pumping up water on the fields. (at least in Europe, this was how they were used):)

Saturday Photo Hunt - The Theme is "Delicious"

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!
There is the most fabulous ice cream café right smack dab
in the middle of London called Rendezvous where they have
home-made ice cream filled with fruit. Choosing between the many
wonderful flavors is almost impossible - but what ever you
choose,it's delicious!
Happy Hunting and happy new year!

Saturday Photo Hunt - on leave

Dear fellow photo hunters

December is a busy time for "we" music people.
I am the musical conductor of a Christmas musical and am in the
orchestra pit for the next 2 weeks - so I won't
have the time, unfortunately, to partake in the hunt.

Hope to see you all again in a few weeks.
So until then.................HAPPY HUNTING!

hugs

Saturday Photo Hunt - The Theme is "I love...FALL"

Like anyone - I love many things and many persons in my life.
I thought I wouldn't get too personal and write I love my son
because I do and he knows it!
But my absolute favorite time of year is Fall. I love the
atmosphere, the colors and most of all.. pumpkins!
There's something about the color, the shape, the taste - everything!
Happy Saturday

Saturday Photo Hunt - The Theme is "Classic"

Something classic,in my opinion,is long-lasting; has staying power; doesn't become trivial. There are many things that are considered classic, such as Mozart's music, Fairy Tales and Mother Goose; Gone With The Wind, the Bible,The Beatles and cotton T-shirts. Thank goodness there is still room for newer classics. I love Tolkien's universe,- and have since my early teens. So I took a picture of one of my many versions of The Hobbit. This one is in Danish!
Happy Saturday Hunters!
