Commercials - Pro Quid Pro?

I'll start by saying now, that I hate television commercials.
We've lived with them forever - I know, I know.
I just don't understand why we've had to accept them and why no one has made a stink about it. I'm tired of being labeled a consumer. Just for once I'd like to be considered a human being, who, after a long day at work, would like to watch the news, or see a film without being bombarded with the newest in washing detergents and panty liners. We buy these things already, so why do we have to see them every 10 minutes? Who ever said that television was pro quid pro, something for something or this for that? I don't think I would mind as much, if commercials came in blocks between shows, but they've taken the liberty of cutting in, in the middle of the news, films, talk shows, just about everything.
While watching the Discovery channel, there was a commercial for Bailys - I don't know how many times. Sheeeeeeeeesh, I got the message, and I sure don't want to buy Bailys, that's for sure. I got so tired of seeing that commercial, that I changed channels!
Wouldn't it be nice to see a talk show, where the host didn't have to say, "We'll be right back after this message" every 10 minutes?
That's all I gotta say about this............for now.

Oh......don't get me started. We watch TCM a lot for that reason!-----no commercials.

But the stuff on commercials I don't like, with a passion, is the medical commercials here in the U.S. And most of them are during the 'prime times of mayb 4-9pm. Minute after minute you're certainly bombarded with Zanax, Bayer Aspirin saving lives, Lunesta, Crestor, cough medications, etc. etc.....I could go on and on....NO WONDER THE U.S. IS A LIVING hypocondriac ward. When someone has a headache, they run to the drugstore or their medicine cabinet because it's been 'drilled' into their minds that they're in need of medicating themselves....when, in most all instances, your own body will heal thyself.

The U.S. banned commercials with smokers and banned commercials with drinkers....why don't the people get with the flow of things and ban this kind also?

Quid Pro Quo maybe? LOL! I don't know about all those commercials y'all watch! I walk past my television 47 times a day and never see one! Frankly... I don't understand the human races infatuation with the television set! But I do know that if you don't watch the television, you won't have to watch the commercials! (*VBG*... works for me!) But for those of you who MUST... isn't that what CABLE was all about? All programming... NO commercials? I would have sworn that that was what the deal was with cable television.

I'm a day late and a dollar short ... well, a few days late *smile* but want to put my two cents worth in too: If we didn't have commercials, we'd have to pay for TV. It's the sponsors that pay for the air time. etc. You know the drill. And as for cable, it just depends on what you are watching if you're going to have commercials or not. Cable is just paying for a glorified antenna. Don't take me wrong, I love my cable. I've got it all: Digital, HD, HBO, on demand, DVR. I DO love my TV shows and movies. I've got a shelf full of movies too, and there aren't any commercials there, ofcourse. There are actually some commercials that I find quite imaginative and I enjoy them. And then there are the ones I hate. Right now I mute or walk away from the guy trying to get through to customer service on the telephone and has food burning on the stove. Soon his broom is burning too. Because he wont hang up the blasted phone. I think it's for Citibank or some such thing. Funny, I find the commercial so danged irritating that I don't even know whose advertising it is. Anyway, that's my two cents worth. Well maybe a dime's worth. *wink*
