Oh, I love paintings and this one is lovely. But she doesn't seem to think that she is pretty, which is a pity ;-)

Rockwell did his paintings in a simpler time; however, you could, kind of, compare this to girls nowadays thumbing through magazines and longing to be as pretty or as skinny as the models and actresses on the pages. It kind of makes me sad she's longing to be something she thinks she's not...

I just thought I add, that this picture is not a young girl longing to be what she isn't - she is on the threshold of becoming a young adult and leaving childhood. Her doll is on the floor and the make-up and magazine on her lap.
Her past, and future.
Of course she would love to be beautiful, but the beginning of puberty isn't always the prettiest phase to be going through!
